Champs wear Green and Gold!

Wow what an experience the past couple of days have been. Can't thank the people around me enough for there endless support throughout this amazing journey.

My first race wearing the green and gold was a bit of a rollercoaster that had its challenges that I tried to persevere and overcome in the race. Leading up to this event I had arguably the best lead up I've had to a race ever. I was fit and was eating well on top of that I didn't get sick at all.

Race report I was happy with my swim coming out around 17th. I was also pleased with how my first ever race in the wetsuit went. As some of you may know straight away heading onto the bike I lost my water bottle and got a puncture which became very problematic around the corners and the downhill.

To cut a long story short I ended up yelling out to a very kind random on the side of the road to see if he had a front wheel after asking the officials if they had one or if there was a wheel station. The random ended up having one which I quickly changed and sadly was seen doing it. This is classed as "outside assistance" and on the next lap they presented me a red card and I ended up getting disqualified.

They let me continue the race to the finish, so I headed back to transition and onto the run with a couple of mixed emotions, but I knew I wanted to finish my first World Champs strong. I ended up crossing the line with a time of 2:12:29 and placing 16th. Considering all the complications I was surprised with how I went.

I know that in life you have setbacks and the true athletes do there utmost to overcome, deal and process them. I am at the start of my World Champs career and will have many more opportunities representing Australia. Besides I think I got some unfinished business on the world stage.
