RACE REPORT: WELLCAMP DUATHLON

First race back in a long time!

I definitely missed that race day adrenalin. It was an awesome atmosphere at Wellcamp, Toowoomba and by far one of the best courses I've raced on to date.

The race had a fast tarmac 38kmph winds and 50kmph plus gusts. This definitely added a challenging element to the conditions. I positioned myself amongst a small pack on the run, so I could be efficient and conserve energy before heading into T1 (bike transition). Mounting the bike, I knew it was going to be a tough slog with the winds... I was hanging on for dear life, trying to keep the legs turning over and staying as aerodynamic as possible.

I felt in control most of the race, there were moments of fatigue setting in and at these points I made nutrition a focus and tried to consume as much as possible. Nutrition is definitely an opportunity to improve on moving forward.

Overall, it was awesome to be back racing and so stoked to take out the win on Saturday, a bit more motivation moving forward into my next training block.
